This conference will focus on the regulatory capacity of non-coding RNA (ncRNA), which over the past years has appeared to be key for the control of gene expression. The most novel aspects in the field of ncRNA will be addresssed. This will include sessions dedicated to various types of ncRNAs from different species. Special attention will be given to the interaction with ncRNAs and chromatin. In addition, developmental aspects will be important in this conference. Furthermore, this conference focuses on the mechanisms of coordination between transcription, mRNA processing and translation which reveal crucial concepts in the understanding of gene regulation.

This conference will provide opportunities to get up-to-date with the most recent data in the main fields of the RNA world, such as genome defense, short and long ncRNAs (miRNAs, piRNAs, siRNAs, lincRNAs), post-transcriptional mechanisms, or RNA processing and transport. We have taken great care to select the most exciting new discoveries, and in some cases have chosen new, upcoming topics that were not even considered two years ago. All invited speakers have been selected for their scientific excellence in the field.

This meeting will provide a forum to bring together a broad group of scientists with expert knowledge in the functions of RNAs in gene regulations as outlined above. Such a meeting is will enforce communication and interactions between fields that are not always prone to interact. We expect stimulating lectures on fascinating new topics, and new insights in already strong lines of research.
